Reseña del libro "Why We Age: Solving the Puzzle of Aging (en Inglés)"
'Why We Age' explains the biology of aging in an all-inclusive way for the first time. Judy Ford PhD is a geneticist/cell biologist who herself has contributed some significant research in the field of aging. In Why We Age, Judy puts together many of the currently disparate theories and explains how the various 'theories of ageing' need to be considered together rather than as separate and/or competing ideas. Because of her unusual cross-disciplinary knowledge, Dr Ford is able to explain how all the pieces of the complex puzzle fit together: Telomeres, Senescence, Fat Metabolism, Mitochondria and Inflammation are all part of this one encompassing explanation that is easy to understand. Despite the need to use some scientific and medical terminology, this is book can be easily understood by any intelligent person. It is particularly suitable for anyone with some knowledge of the science of health, and doctors, dentists, nurses, scientists have all found it extremely interesting and recommended it to their friends. In Part B Dr Ford uses the World data on the relative rates of diseases in different countries to make important recommendations on age-related disease prevention. One of these relates to the intake of the relatively unknown Vitamin K2 in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and of the contributions to defective plumbing, pollution, excessive use of air-conditioning to other common 'age-related' diseases. Part C makes a number of recommendations relating to other aspects of lifestyle such as Dental Health, Sleep, Mental and Physical Exercise and the critical importance of reducing stress. There is useful information for everyone in this book but especially for those who want documented evidence on which to base their personal decisions.
