After returning home from his business trip, Ryan Cruz learns that his high school sweetheart is pregnant with his child. Ryan proposes and Barb accepts. Finally, things seem to be going in the right direction for them. There is even a new relationship on the horizon for someone very close to Ryan and Barb, and they are very excited and happy about it. Seth and Kathy, Ryan and Barb's friends, have a major issue to work through. Ryan and Barb try to help, but there is someone else who is more likely to be of help to them. Ryan and Barb both start to notice something is troubling Ryan's Aunt Carol. When they question her about it, she insists there is no need for them to worry. Carol confides in someone about something from her past. The person she confides in convinces her to seek professional help. At first she doesn't tell Ryan and Barb, but she can tell they are very worried about her. To put their minds at ease, she decides to tell them she is talking to a counselor, but doesn't tell them the reason why. Ryan and Barb are relieved she is getting help and they start to see a change for the better with her mood. Already having a lot of things happening in their lives, Barb struggles with decisions about her grandmother. Without Carol's knowledge, Ryan and Barb find out what has been troubling her. Ryan and Barb are very upset when they are told the disturbing news about Carol's past. Having a newborn and dealing with a lot of different issues, Barb tries to take on too much and becomes overwhelmed. Ryan and Barb lean on each other for support while they try to deal with everything that is happening with their family and friends.
