Reseña del libro "Quieting the Chaos: Organizing Disorganized Thoughts (en Inglés)"

"I'm in my car; my mission is to get groceries. My thoughts shift. The Force is calling. A two-toned red and green car crosses the intersection in front of me. The Force must want me to see something special. I look wildly at people walking and driving, at the colors of their clothing, the expressions on their faces, anything that might give me a clue to my next move. I become more and more frantic as I can't locate what the Force is trying to tell me. Then I see a solid red car and know that means to stop. I pull over to park and wait for the Force to tell me what to do next. I need the Force to direct me where to go or not to go, something, anything. I follow, turn, stop, see a person walking wearing blue. I look up at the sky to see if a message is written up there. Finally, without groceries, I get back home." Over 20 years ago, Louie Keyes entered a mental institution with a life sentence and a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia. He was responsible for murder and bringing unspeakable pain into many lives. In the institution, he kept asking, "What happened? What happened?" Actually, he knew what happened; what he didn't know was how he went from being a child who wanted to help others to being the kind of person who could kill someone. He wanted to try to trace his road to mental illness and to the crimes he committed. Later he realized that he wanted to build a new road to recovery. Quieting the Chaos: Organizing Disorganized Thoughts is his story. The first six chapters are about Louie's life's events and how he connects these events to his mental health and to his mental illness. In Chapter 7, Louie talks about what helped him to regain his mental health, how he made that journey without medication, and what continues to help him stay healthy, such as counseling, nutrition, and spirituality. In Chapter 8, he discusses the more recent experience of integrating his life story and what he's done with who he is now. There's also a section at the end with Louie's songs and poems because they reveal a lot about him and his journey. The book also includes a section of recommended resources, like books and movies. Louie wrote this book in the hope others might be helped by his story. Maybe it could help someone who has a friend or loved one struggling with mental illness. Maybe his story could help that someone understand what the world looks like to his or her friend. Maybe it could help someone who is an aide or doctor helping people who have a mental illness. Maybe Louie's story could help remind that someone that we are all strong and fragile, have good days and bad days, and that how we are treated makes a difference.
