English anthropologist and pioneer of cultural anthropology Edward B. Tylor is the author of the book Primitive Culture Vol 2. Tylor's work in Primitive Culture was revolutionary at the time since it established the idea of cultural development and dared to question accepted notions about race and civilization. Tylor maintained that every society has a distinctive culture that is interesting to study, regardless of its degree of development. He held the opinion that culture was not natural, but rather acquired and passed down via the generations.
