He walked alone along the sunny shores of Cocoa Beach, Florida and found himself pondering some of life's mysteries. It was the first time he'd had an experience quite like this. Finding it to be a pleasant one, he realized he was a little philosopher. It was his own way of looking at the world. Simple and concise but deep and maybe a little odd. Fast forward twenty some odd years: After losing his career teaching at a private academy, he's on the "graveyard shift" at a hotel where he encounters every possible catastrophe until he decides he needs a break. Granted one month off work, he goes on a journey and discovers what he's been missing. Max falls madly in love with Kate, a born-again Christian, meets a friend like he's never known named "Chen" along with a host of other characters, and gets drawn into an intriguing "group" which has a marvelous work of architecture as it's center while being run by Larry, an intriguing leader who seems to have it all figured out. Can Max make all the pieces of the puzzle come together, or will his sudden good fortune come tumbling apart?Taking place in present-day Connecticut and looking back at memories of times and places of the 80s and 90s, Max's Modern-Day Philosophy reflects on life through the eyes of one man in his thirties making the most of it as best as he can.
