Mae Mae's beloved daughter Esther, a famous, soul singing diva, is now dead. She was murdered by her lover's jealous wife, leaving behind the need for forgiveness and spiritual growth for everyone, including Mae Mae. Just like in the original novel, BLACKEYED PEAS AND CORNBREAD and the sequel, MAE MAE'S EASTEND CAFE, the characters are in search of love and a better life. The era is on the fringes of Jim Crow and the Civil Rights Movement, and fits naturally into these stories that must be told. But in the midst of all of that, as well as the evil deeds they try to keep hidden, will they ever find true peace and forgiveness?
