Quotes from Samuel Taylor Coleridge, 'Poetry is the best words in the best order, ' and Shakespeare, 'brevity is the soul of wit, ' influence his style. Hence, he adapted the standard Haiku format to suit the English language by not strictly conforming to syllabic count. Instead, he sometimes eliminates extraneous words to achieve a better flow and tone.
