The author presents an integrated theory of happiness based on experimental results in neuroscience and evidence from surveys of happiness. This book incorporates key elements from the major existing theories of happiness. It describes the concepts of pleasure, pleasure intensity and happiness from the scientific view. The book describes the new concept of the brain physiological state, which constructs a bridge between the brain physiological quantity and psychological magnitude. The author summarizes the main features of the brain physiological state, pleasure intensity and happiness. He presents experimental principles and methods for simultaneously measuring the brain physiological quantity and psychological magnitude, and suggests methods for quantitatively assessing the amount of pleasure and happiness with empirical methods. This book also defines the index of satisfaction level and the index of happiness level, and designs the weighted scales of well-being. Finally, the author makes suggestions for enhancing happiness.
