Levi the Custodian of the Laws of God A close examination of the Book of Exodus shows that God wanted to make all of Israel priests unto Him. But after evaluating the people, on more than one occasion the results was that they were afraid, failed to trust Him even after many signs and wonders at the hand of Moses, and often murmured against Moses! Thus, the LORD God established the Levites; the tribe of Moses and Aaron priests unto Him for all the people of Israel. And so, the Book of Leviticus details the laws and responsibilities (or ordinances) that God instructed Moses to lead the children of Israel with, for establishing their society (or citizenry) unto Him; God alone! (In other words, they were not to seek/ worship idols, and/ or false gods)! Now these laws and responsibilities established in Leviticus were specifically tailored for pointing to the sacrificial atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ, or Messiah, that He would come and fulfill in His day of visiting, and ministering to Israel, first; and then the whole world. Thus, this journey of the children of Israel after they exited Egypt was for the purpose of living unto God, evangelizing the heathen for the LORD God of Creation, fulfilling their call of incubator and human birth deliverance of the one God the Father would sacrifice for the sins of the human race; making sure His witness was recorded as the "Son of God". Howbeit, I doubt the children of Israel were ever at all aware of the calling of the LORD God upon them; although the prophets (even Moses) said as much during their lifetimes and living! In this book we provide detail narratives of how the Laws God gave through Moses to the Levites, and the children of Israel, describe the atoning sacrifice of Jesus giving His life in crucifixion on the cross!
